Dean´s Directive No. 4-2021 on Admission Procedures to the Master Continuation Study Programmes at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague for the Academic Year 2022 – 2023.

This Directive amend the Notification of Admission Procedures to the Master Continuation Programmes of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague referred to as FNSPE of the CTU) for the academic year 2022 – 2023 (referred to as Notification) and provide implementation rules for admission to programmes offered in the English language.

I. Basic information on the Master Continuation Programmes of the FNSPE of the CTU and the offer of branches

The Master Continuation Programmes of the FNSPE of the CTU are open for admission as full-time only and according to the Statute of the CTU they are subject to the tuition fee. Their list follows:

When submitting the application, the applicant may choose no more than one of the branches listed above.

II. Submitting the application

  1. For the Master Continuation Programme offered by the FNSPE of the CTU for the Academic Year 2022 – 2023, an application form completed in its entirety submitted, either on-line via an electronic application form (see II.-2. below) by June 30, 2022.
  2. On-line application includes:
    1. An electronic application form available at http://prihlaska.cvut.cz, completed in its entirety.
    2. Payment of a fee of 850 CZK covering costs related to the admission procedure. Payment can be made by transfer, money order or by a bank card within the electronic form at http://prihlaska.cvut.cz. Details for payment within the Czech Republic are as follows:

    3. Enclosure of further documents related to the admission procedure if available at the time of application, as specified by the conditions of the admission procedure. The documents shall include a certified copy of school-leaving examination; a diploma documenting the higher education achieved by the applicant; or, if necessary, proof of equal standard or validation of secondary and higher education programmes taken in a foreign country; or an examination certificate proving the applicant´s English language competence at a level not below B2. These requirements do not apply to FNSPE students and graduates. No health certificate is required.
    4. Documents listed in II.-2.c. above are to be sent by registered post or delivered in person to the following address:

  3. Applicants are requested to prove their English language competence at a minimum level of SERR B2 either

    a. by submitting a proof of having taken and passed the whole secondary education programme in English, or

    b. by submitting one of the following English language certificates:

    Cambridge English Language Certificate - level B2 (e.g. FCE)
    IELTS – degree 5.5 or higher
    TOEFL – level B2
    City & Guilds International ESOL – level B2
    telc English B2

    Student´s English language competence may be proven by submitting even some other certificate. The decision of acceptance or non-acceptance of this certificate is up to the Department of Humanities and Languages.

    c. Unless the student is able to prove their competence by submitting any of the documents under a) and b) above, or, in case the certificate submitted is not recognized (see b) above), the student shall take an entrance examination in English administered by the Department of Humanities and Languages.
  4. The bank account number for payment of admission procedure fees from abroad is the following: Swift Code: KOMBCZPP – IBAN: CZ1501000000195373100277 - type of payment “OUR“ or such that all charges are covered by the payer.
  5. In the Academic Year 2022 – 2023 no more than one application shall be accepted for admission to the Master Continuation Programme. Should more than one admission fee have been paid, it will not be reimbursed.
  6. On receipt of the documents as given under II.-2.a.-b. above and evidence of payment of costs related to the admission procedure, the application is duly accepted and the application procedure may start.
  7. Documents relevant to the admission procedure and not available at the time of submission may be submitted subsequently (see II.-2.c. above, as appropriate). Subsequent submission is part of the verification required for the admission procedure to start. The deadline is September 16, 2022.

III. Entrance examination

A one-day written entrance examination is to establish the standards of applicants in theoretical bachelor courses taken at FNSPE of the CTU; it is followed by an interview.

An entrance examination in Physics is obligatory for applicants to the Master Continuation Programmes courses in Mathematical Physics, Physical Electronics, Solid State Engineering, Plasma Physics and Thermonuclear Fusion, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Nuclear Chemistry, Nuclear Engineering, and Quantum Technologies.

To prepare for the entrance examination, the applicants may use materials made available on the Faculty web or by the Department of Student affairs providing standards for student performance in the given courses and sample tests.

The Dean may grant an examination waiver to FNSPE Bachelor graduates or graduates in an adequate Bachelor Programme coming from other institutions of higher education. The standard for granting an admission examination waiver must conform to the Curriculum of Mathematics Courses A, B, or C taught at the FNSPE of the CTU in accordance with the Policies and Regulations for Bachelor´s and Master´s Degree Programmes at FNSPE of the CTU in Prague, Sec. 7. The Dean has the right to verify details of the candidate´s curriculum by any means possible, including electronic sources or an on-line interview.

Entrance Examination Rules:

  1. Candidates shall attend the examination in person, appear in time and prove their identity with a valid identification document or a passport, as applicable.
  2. The entrance examination will be held on the premises of the FNSPE of the CTU at Trojanova Street 13, Prague 2, at 9.00 A.M. on July 12, 2022.
  3. The entrance examination will also be open to students completing their bachelor programme before the date indicated in II.-6.
  4. Details on entrance examination will be provided to applicants in writing by the Department of Student Affairs.
  5. Results of the entrance examination as well as the examination tests of the applicants will be available to them during the interview on the day of the examination.
  6. Applicants cannot be admitted to the Master Continuation Programme offered by the Faculty more than twice.

If necessary, an individual study schedule for the first and second semester will be arranged for the candidates admitted, enabling them to reach the standard of an FNSPE Bachelor graduate in the relevant branch in order to comply with the requirements of the Master Continuation Programme.

IV. Admission procedure

  1. Candidates with an entrance examination waiver in terms of the Notification procedures will be admitted to the programme after verification of the remaining entrance conditions. They will receive the Dean´s decision on admission after delivering all the documents requested by the Notification of Admission Procedure (see II. above. of these Directive).
  2. Candidates not exempt from the entrance examination will receive an e-mail invitation to sit for the examination. Their admission is based on successful examination results. Successful candidates will receive the Dean´s decision on admission after delivering all the relevant documents required by the Notification (see part II of these Directive).

V. Registration for the study programme

  1. Regular registration dates for the Master Continuation Programme offered by the FNSPE of the CTU in Prague are set by the Department of Student Affairs. To enrol, the applicant will be present in person and will prove their identity with a valid identification document or passport, as applicable.
  2. The 1st year courses start according to the time schedule of the following Academic Year.

September 16, 2022
Registration for the 1st year of  the Master Study according to the instruction of the Department of Student Affairs
Beginning of the 1st year courses: according to the schedule of the academic year 2022 – 2023
