FJFI-Skolni reaktor VR-1 VrabecTen students from universities all over Europe are taking part in a week-long course on the Safe Operation of Nuclear Facilities, which is taking place at the school's fission nuclear reactor VR-1 Vrabec at Jaderka. The course is part of the European Nuclear Education Platform (ENEEP) project and is run by the Department of Nuclear Reactors (KJR) at the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of the CTU in Prague (FNSPE).

Ten students from Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom will learn about the operation of nuclear facilities in classrooms and at the reactor during the week of 31 January to 4 February 2022. "The students were most attracted by the possibility of gaining not only theoretical knowledge with us, but also being able to interact with the reactor and see for themselves how fission reaction is managed and what happens at particular moments," explains Prof. Marcel Miglierini of the KJR, who is involved in organising the course, of the advantages of this experiments attraction.

The ENEEP platform is also planning other courses in the field of nuclear science. It has been jointly founded by five universities. In addition to the CTU in Prague, the other institutions are the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), the Austrian Technical University in Vienna (TU), the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in Hungary and Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) in Slovenia. ENEEP is supported by the EU's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
