European universities, including CTU, unite to educate the quantum experts of the future
Several European universities, including CTU, through the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE), have joined the European Quantum Flagship's QTEdu Open Master project. The aim of the universities and other participating organizations is to train quantum experts who will be needed for the ongoing development of quantum technologies.
The first neutron computed tomography at the training reactor VR-1
CTU scientists, PhD student Jana Matoušková and Dr Lubomír Sklenka, have performed the first three-dimensional computed tomography of a technical object at the near-zero power training reactor of CTU, which had previously only been possible at high-power research reactors.
Marek Matas received the Josef Hlávka prize for knowledge development of quantum chromodynamics
The Josef Hlávka Prize for 2020 was awarded to Marek Matas, a graduate of Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics at the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FJFI), for his scientific activities during his doctoral studies. He received the award in September at the Lužany Castle, which is part of the endowment of the oldest Czech foundation founded in 1904.
Universities build a National Quantum Infrastructure for the Czech Republic with connections abroad for extremely secure communication
The Czech National Quantum Infrastructure with connections to Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland is building a cybersecurity hub through collaboration among the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FJFI), the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FI MU), the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Palacký University in Olomouc (UPOL) and IT4 Innovations of the Mining University – Technical University of Ostrava (IT4I VŠB-TUO).
French Ambassador operated the nuclear reactor of the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of CTU
The French Ambassador Alexis Dutertre together with Nuclear Advisor Thierry Salmon visited the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of the CTU in Prague (FNSPE) on Tuesday 27 July 2021. Among other things, the Ambassador experienced how to achieve and maintain the so-called critical state on a model of the school's nuclear reactor and toured the Golem tokamak and the newly built PlasmaLab.
