Degree Course Characteristics

Dozimetrie a aplikace ionizujiciho zareni Bc 04 The bachelor's degree course in Dosimetry and Applications of Ionizing Radiation is concerned with engineering and nuclear sciences, specifically the use of radioactive substances and ionizing radiation in industry, biology, and medicine. The course stresses the importance of nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear power plants and environmental protection. In the first two years, the course curriculum establishes firm foundations in mathematics and physics. The physics-oriented courses include mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves and optics, thermodynamics, theoretical physics and experimental physics, and physics practicals. Mathematics-oriented courses cover topics of mathematical analysis, algebra, numerical methods, mathematical physics equations, mathematical statistics, numerical mathematics, and programming. Informatics courses develop basic computer and internet skills. Regarding dosimetry and application of ionizing radiation, the courses in nuclear and radiation physics and in dosimetry and detectors of ionizing radiation provide further insight into the area.

Graduate's Profile

Dozimetrie a aplikace ionizujiciho zareni Bc 05 Knowledge:
The graduates will have mastered the basics of informatics, mathematics, and physics, and, depending on their specialisation, of nuclear technologies and ionizing radiation protection. Successful graduates can directly apply for admission to a Master Programme in the same or a related field.

Skills:
The skills gained include a mastery of methodologies and procedures of nuclear engineering applicable in solutions of issues of nuclear energy and interaction with ionizing radiation.

Competency:
The course graduates can seek positions in industry, research, and the private sector. Their capabilities to use analytical thinking and a systematic approach to solving problems, based on the acquired knowledge and skills in using up-to-date computer technology make them highly qualified for positions in facilities using ionizing radiation and radionuclides, in particular in nuclear engineering, radioecology, radiation hygiene, and health care.
